Weekly interactive storytime and literacy activity with a craft for the whole family, from toddlers and babies to school-age children.
Twilight Tales is back at the Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek Library on Tuesday, October 27, at 5 PM. It's an interactive storytime and literacy activity or craft for the whole family, and it's part of the library's weekly Storytimes series, which runs every Tuesday. The session is designed for all ages, from school-age children down to toddlers and babies, so it's one of those rare things you can bring the whole crew to without worrying about who's too young or too old.
If you're not familiar with the branch, it's at 5800 Cobbs Creek Parkway, at 59th and Baltimore, in West Philadelphia. The building has a bit of history behind it: it opened on December 30, 1925, funded by an Andrew Carnegie grant, with $10,000 raised by local residents for its book fund. It was renamed in 1990 to honor Blanche Nixon, a local resident, community activist, and library volunteer who led beautification projects for the branch, including the garden and the exterior mural.

The neighborhood grew around the mills and Sherwood Forest after the 1910s on land known to the Lenni Lenape as Karakung and to Swedes as Mill Creek, which had been in the Hoffman family since colonial days. It's a good spot to drop in with the kids on a Tuesday afternoon. Twilight Tales starts at 5 PM at the Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek Library, 5800 Cobbs Creek Parkway.
