Free Halloween trick-or-treating trails for children 10 and under in Franklin Square, with a seasonal makeover of the park's mini golf course.
Trick-or-Treat Street comes to Franklin Square on Saturday, October 24, from 11 AM to 1 PM. It's a free trick-or-treating trail for kids 10 and under, sponsored by Fox Rothschild. If you've got little ones in costume, it's a straightforward way to get some candy without the usual neighborhood hustle.
Franklin Square is one of William Penn's five original squares, seven acres of parkland bordering the Historic District, Old City, and Chinatown, centered on a fountain built in 1838. It's run by Historic Philadelphia, Inc. and holds a few things you might recognize: the Parx Liberty Carousel, Center City's only carousel, with figures like a zebra, a lion, an eagle, and a dragon; the Philly Mini Golf course; and the SquareBurger. Trick-or-Treat Street turns the square into a family-friendly Halloween destination for the morning.
It's part of a larger stretch of free Halloween activities the square runs throughout the month. On October 17, there's a pumpkin patch for children 10 and under, and on October 25, the Bark-or-Treat Trail welcomes the dogs. If you're planning to be around for more than one, you can hit the pumpkin patch, the trick-or-treating, and the dog trail in one week.

The mini golf course gets a seasonal makeover too: Halloween decorations, fog, strobe lights, and dimmed lighting for evening tee times. For the adults, there's a Boo-zy Bar open Thursday through Sunday evenings. Trick-or-Treat Street is free, though admission is limited, so it's worth getting there early. You'll find it at Franklin Square, 200 North 6th Street, at 6th and Race streets.
