Live show by New York songwriter Austin Noll's project Tracey Nelson, with Florida country rock band Oldstar as the opening act.
Tracey Nelson plays PhilaMOCA on Tuesday, December 1, with Oldstar opening. The show is presented by R5 Productions.
Tracey Nelson is the project of New York songwriter Austin Noll. His songs pair wry, plainspoken storytelling with tender melodies and a loose-limbed charm, and that's the core of what you'll hear that night. The storytelling is the lead here—plainspoken lyrics that don't hide behind too much artifice, set against melodies that keep the mood tender rather than stark. It's the kind of songwriting that lets the songs breathe on their own, and the loose-limbed charm gives the whole thing a relaxed, unforced feel.
Opening the bill is Oldstar, a country rock band from Florida. They're coming up from the South to set the stage for Noll, so you'll have two distinct songwriting approaches in one evening: Oldstar's country rock and Nelson's melodic, story-driven songs. Between the two, the night covers a fair bit of ground, from the Florida band's country rock to the New York songwriter's more intimate, lyric-forward style.
