Free storytime session with stories, songs, movement and activities for children ages 2-5 and their caregivers, followed by free play.
Eastwick Library is hosting Toddler Storytime on Saturday, October 24, at 10:30 AM. It's built for children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers, and it's free to attend.
The session is a mix of stories, songs, movement and activities, so the kids aren't just sitting still the whole time. It's designed for that specific toddler age range—the ones who are starting to get into stories but still need to move around—and it wraps up with free play, which is a nice way to let them burn off whatever energy they have left before you head home.
If you've never been, the Eastwick branch is at 2851 Island Avenue, right at Island Ave. and Lindbergh Blvd. in Philadelphia. The building itself has a bit of a story: it opened on November 24, 1980, in a contemporary space by BJC/Knowles Architects, known for its large curved main window. Out in the courtyard, there's a sculpture called Greek Warrior, donated by city planner Constantinos Doxiados, who imagined Eastwick as a "city within a city." The library was renovated in 1998 as part of the "Changing Lives" campaign, and it serves the Eastwick, Elmwood, Clearview and Penrose Park communities.

The branch takes its name from Andrew M. Eastwick (1810-1879), a pioneer locomotive builder and local landowner who built a summer mansion here and later contracted with the czar to build the first railroad in Russia. It's a small piece of local history that still hangs around the neighborhood.
So, if you've got a little one in that 2-to-5 range, you can bring them along on Saturday morning. Toddler Storytime starts at 10:30 AM at Eastwick Library, and it's free.
