32nd edition of the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend, with the TIAA Philadelphia Marathon, the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon, an 8K and kids' races.
Philadelphia Marathon Weekend returns to the city from November 20 to 22, 2026, with the main event, the TIAA Philadelphia Marathon, taking place on Sunday, November 22. It's now in its 32nd year, and it's a big one: the marathon is a USATF-certified Boston qualifier and a World Athletics Label Road Race, which means it's a serious target for people chasing a Boston qualifying time.
The marathon isn't the only race on the schedule. The weekend also features the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon, the Rothman Orthopaedics 8K, the Philadelphia Kids Run, and the Patriot, Independence, Liberty Bell and Freedom Challenges. If you're not looking for 26.2 miles, there's plenty of room to slot in something shorter.
Each race takes you through a different slice of the city. The marathon starts at 22nd Street & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and runs through Fairmount Park and along the Schuylkill River—past sights Franklin and Washington would've known—before finishing at the steps of the Art Museum. The half marathon starts on the Parkway in the Museum District and winds through Old City, Center City, University City and Fairmount Park. The 8K follows the banks of the Schuylkill and Kelly Drive, where autumn temperatures usually average around 54°F.

It's a local institution that's grown since its first race in 1994, which drew about 1,500 participants; these days it brings in more than 30,000 athletes and ranks among the country's top ten marathons. There's a deep history here, too: Legacy Runners are those who've completed at least 15 Philadelphia Marathons over the last 30 years, and Charter Membership is reserved for those who've run every single edition since 1994.
On Sunday, November 22, push rim wheelchairs start at 6:55 AM and runners and walkers follow at 7 AM.
