The Garcia Project stages live recreations of full Jerry Garcia Band set lists from 1976-1995, using era-specific gear to match the arrangements and feel of each period.
The Garcia Project plays City Winery on Sunday, November 1, as part of their fall tour that runs from Maine to Florida. The band calls their Sunday stops 'Jerry's Church,' and this one lands in Philadelphia.
What they do is a bit different from your usual cover band. They recreate full Jerry Garcia Band set lists from 1976-1995, built from actual set lists the band played. They use era-specific gear to match the arrangements, tempos, tones, instrumentation, and feel of each period, so you're hearing a specific show from a specific time rather than a greatest hits medley. The project is now in its twelfth year, and it's earned praise from former JGB publicist Dennis McNally and former JGB member Maria Muldaur. Longtime JGB vocalist Jackie LaBranch has said the performances remind her of what it felt like to sing those songs with Jerry Garcia.
