Drop-in hangout for teens to finish homework, play chess and puzzles, and socialize at Haddington Library during TeenTober.
Haddington Library is hosting a TeenTober Hangout on Friday, October 23, starting at 4 PM. It's a drop-in session for young adults to wrap up the school week, so you can come in, hang out for a bit, and head home whenever you're done.
What you do there is up to you. You can bring in your homework and knock it out before the weekend, set up a chess game, work through a puzzle, or just hang out and talk with other teens. It's pitched as a place to learn, relax, or socialize, so it works whether you're looking for a quiet spot to focus or a reason to get out of the house and be around people your own age. The same Friday afternoon also includes learning card games, with an eye on the holiday season ahead and playing cards with family.
If you haven't heard of it, TeenTober is a nationwide celebration libraries host every October to celebrate teens and promote year-round teen services. The idea is to highlight the ways those services help young people learn new skills and fuel their passions, both inside and outside the library. This hangout is one of those services in action—a dedicated space for teens to spend an afternoon on their own terms.
