Drop-in Friday afternoon session for teens to play video games with snacks and casual banter at the Philadelphia City Institute branch.
Teen Video Game Hangouts are back at the Philadelphia City Institute this Friday, October 23, from 3:00 PM to 4:45 PM. It's a drop-in session, so you don't need to sign up or commit to the whole time—you can just swing by whenever you're free and hang out for as long as you like.
The whole thing is part of the Free Library of Philadelphia's teen programming, and the premise is exactly what it sounds like: a dedicated space for young adults to spend a Friday afternoon playing video games. Along with the gaming, there are snacks and casual banter, so it's as much about hanging out and talking as it is about the screens. If you're looking for a low-pressure way to kill a few hours after school or just want a spot to game with other people your age, this is it.
You'll find it in the meeting room on the ground floor of the City Institute branch, located at 1905 Locust Street—that's 19th and Locust, right by Rittenhouse Square. It's a central spot, easy to get to if you're already downtown or coming in from nearby. And since it's a drop-in, you can come and go as you please between 3:00 PM and 4:45 PM.

One thing to keep in mind is that this isn't a one-off. The hangouts run every Friday the library is open, so if you can't make it this week, there's another one waiting for you next Friday. It's free, and it's open to any teen who wants to drop in. The session runs from 3:00 PM to 4:45 PM in the ground-floor meeting room at the Philadelphia City Institute.
