Weekly teen-run lounge at the West Philadelphia Regional Library with video games, board games and monthly crafts for young adults.
Teen Lounge Tuesdays is back at the Lucien E. Blackwell West Philadelphia Regional Library on Tuesday, October 27, starting at 4 PM. It's a drop-in session for young adults, so you don't need to commit to the whole afternoon—you can just swing by when you're free.
The name tells you most of what you need to know: it's a lounge for teens, and it happens every Tuesday. The main draw is the gaming, with video games and board games on hand, so you can either jump into a console or pull out a tabletop game with a few other people. On top of that, there are monthly crafts, which means there's usually something to make if you're not in a gaming mood.
There's a bit of history behind it, too. This is the reimagined version of the library's old 'Teen Tuesdays' program, which has been transformed into the Teen Lounge. The shift changed the session into a teen-run space, so it's run by the very people it's for rather than just being a scheduled activity. That's a big part of why it works as a drop-in spot—it's meant to be a place you can just show up to and hang out.
