Family-friendly Halloween day at the Independence Seaport Museum with sea monster crafts, a scavenger hunt, Teen Ambassadors and costume discounts.
Spooky Seaport Saturday is coming to the Independence Seaport Museum on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 2 PM. It's a family-friendly morning of crafts and activities, with sea monster crafts and a scavenger hunt as the main draws. If you've got kids who like to make things and run around, this is exactly the kind of thing that keeps them occupied for a few hours.
Between the crafts, you can still do the usual museum stuff. The Independence Seaport Museum is home to award-winning exhibitions and two historic vessels you can actually board: the Olympia, a nineteenth-century cruiser, and the Becuna, a World War II-era submarine. If you've never been on a submarine, it's a good time to finally do it.
The museum's Teen Ambassadors will be staffing the day, handing out candy and drawing visitors into the history of sailing. And if you come in costume, you'll get a 10% discount in the gift shop, so it's worth dressing up the kids (and yourself) before you head over.
