Hands-on session where children make and play with slime while learning about the science behind it, part of Philadelphia STEM Equity Week.
Slime! is coming to the Bushrod Library on Monday, October 26, at 3:30 PM. It's a hands-on session for kids to make and play with slime while learning the science behind it, and they'll get to experiment to create their own. If you've got little ones who love getting their hands messy, this is exactly the kind of afternoon they'll enjoy.
The session is part of Philadelphia STEM Equity Week, a citywide push to get more kids into science, technology, engineering, and math. For the week, the Free Library of Philadelphia is partnering with the Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective (PSEC), an initiative that brings together educators, students, professionals, community leaders, and families to tackle systemic barriers and promote more equitable access to STEM fields. This particular workshop fits right into that—taking a science lesson and turning it into something kids can actually touch and play with.
It's a great way to introduce them to the idea that science isn't just something in a textbook, but something you can do with your own hands. Between making the slime and playing with it, they'll be learning how it works and why it behaves the way it does, and the experimenting part means they can tweak their own batch to see what happens. It's the kind of activity that keeps them occupied and curious at the same time.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Philadelphia and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
