Drop-in fibre arts gathering for crocheters, knitters, sewers, embroiderers and quilters to show what they are making and learn from each other.
Sew What?! is back at the Parkway Central Library on Wednesday, October 28, at 2 PM. It's part of a series of drop-in craft gatherings run by the Free Library of Philadelphia, and this one takes place in the library's Art Department.
The whole thing is pretty straightforward: it's a get-together for anyone working with fiber arts. The library describes it as a "clever and creative" gathering for makers who crochet, knit, sew, embroider, quilt, or felt. The idea is simple—bring whatever you're currently working on and show it to other textile crafters, collaborating and learning as you go. It's less of a structured class and more of a communal workspace where you can chat about your projects while you work on them.
If you've been wanting to get into sewing but haven't quite made the leap, this is a good place to start. Library staff are on hand to help anyone who wants to learn how to use a sewing machine, so you don't need to be an expert to show up. Whether you're halfway through a quilt, working on a sweater, or just starting a small embroidery piece, you'll find other people doing similar things. It's as much about the conversation as it is about the craft.

It's a drop-in session, so there's no need to sign up in advance—just bring your project and your tools. You'll find it in the Art Department at the Parkway Central Library, starting at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 28.
