Annual free community festival commemorating the 250th anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Germantown, held at Cliveden.
Cliveden hosts the Revolutionary Germantown Festival on Saturday, October 2, 2027, from 10 AM to 4 PM. It's a free community event that marks the 250th anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Germantown, and it runs rain or shine.
The festival has become a local tradition, and this year it hits a double milestone: the 250th anniversary of the battle itself and the 50th anniversary of the festival being held at Cliveden. The site is more than just a backdrop—the battle took place right here in Germantown, and the festival has been returning to this spot for five decades.
Running alongside the festival is a related program called Revealing Revolutionary Germantown, which looks at the sites and the people affected by the events of October 4, 1777. That part of the project is supported by the Philadelphia Funders Collaborative, so if you're interested in the history beyond the day of the battle, there's a broader conversation happening around it.
