Educational session by the Philadelphia Register of Wills on wills, probate, marriage licenses and records, with staff on hand for one-to-one guidance.
The Register of Wills Pop-Up is coming to the Northeast Regional Library on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's part of the library's Community Impact Week, and it's the final installment of a series that's been running throughout the year at this branch. If you've been meaning to get your paperwork in order but haven't found the time to make it downtown, this is your chance to get it sorted without leaving the neighborhood.
The morning starts with an educational session led by staff from the Register of Wills Office. They'll walk through the basics of wills, probate, marriage licenses and records, and title clearance—the latter of which they call Tangled Titles. It's the kind of stuff that usually feels like a headache to figure out on your own, so having it laid out in plain English is a big help. The session runs in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, so you can follow along in the language you're most comfortable with.
Once the presentation wraps, the team sets up information tables in the main lobby. That's when you can step up and ask your specific questions or get one-to-one guidance on your own situation. If you're looking for a marriage record, you can request one on the spot for a $40 money order or cashier's check, and you'll be able to pick it up from the library later. It's a handy way to handle a request without having to travel to the city office.

Since this is the last one of the series for the year, it's your final shot to catch them at the Northeast Regional. The library is at 2288 Cottman Avenue, at the corner of Cottman and Oakland, and the whole thing is free to attend. The session and the information tables run from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, October 24.
