An evening under the stars featuring live music from Moody's Klubbhouse, food, and fireworks to celebrate the Fairmount Park Conservancy's fundraising success.
Chill Moody is bringing his Moody's Klubbhouse to the John Welsh Memorial Fountain on Friday, October 16, for an evening called Play for Parks. It's an outdoor show thrown by the Fairmount Park Conservancy to thank the people who backed the Fair Play Campaign, a five-year fundraising drive that brought in more than 2,700 donors and raised $115 million for Philadelphia's parks and outdoor public programs. The fountain itself will be lit up in color for the night.
Moody, a West Philly native and the city's Music Ambassador, is hosting and curating the bill. He's also the inaugural Community Artist in Residence at the Mann Center, and the timing works out: he's due to release a new album this month. The music comes from Moody's Klubbhouse, with a house band led by saxophonist Hiruy Tirfe, plus Sovei, Lena L, Lester London and other special guests. Between the sets, the evening honors Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker with the John K. Binswanger Park Champion Award. Parker has described the city's commitment to being the safest, cleanest and greenest big city in America as something that comes to life in the parks.
