New fall block party at Piazza Alta with 40+ vendors, a costume contest, a trick-or-treat trail through the market, fitness and wellness classes and kids' activities.
Piazza Alta is hosting its Autumn Harvest Block Party on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 3 PM at 1099 Germantown Avenue in Northern Liberties. It's a new addition to the neighborhood's fall calendar, put on by the private courtyard itself rather than one of the area's established institutions. The party takes place on the same stretch of Germantown Avenue where the courtyard holds its weekly Saturday farmers market, and it brings more than 40 vendors into the mix.
There's a strong Halloween thread running through the day. Piazza Alta is partnering with the Northern Liberties Business Improvement District to run a costume contest and a trick-or-treat trail that winds through the market. Beyond that, the day fills out with fitness and wellness classes and activities for kids, and dogs are welcome. It's the kind of afternoon that works as a single stop or as a home base for a few hours.
It's also worth noting where this fits into the neighborhood's autumn. For a while, Northern Liberties' fall scene was set by a single organization, but it's grown into three separate events run by different organizers, each with its own date and purpose. The Autumn Harvest Block Party joins the volunteer-run Liberty Lands festival and the Northern Liberties BID's 3rd Street corridor festival, so there are now three distinct fall traditions to choose from across the neighborhood.
