An annual eight-day celebration of Pennsylvania cider featuring taproom parties, markets, classes, dinners, and live music at bars and cideries around Philadelphia.
Philly Cider Week returns from Sunday, October 25 to Sunday, November 1, an eight-day celebration of Pennsylvania cider that puts the state's cider makers in the spotlight every fall. It's presented in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Cider Guild, and if you're planning to hit several stops, optional cider passports are available to keep track of where you've been.
The week opens at Pip's in Fishtown, Ploughman Farm Cider's first Philadelphia taproom, with a first-anniversary party that runs long into the night. From there, the programming spreads across the city: Ploughman Cider will have Head Cider Maker Charlie Burt pouring the barrel-aged Pigeon Hawk, Fish Hawk, and Hemiola series; Khyber Pass Pub hosts an ANXO tap takeover; and Pip's will run 'From The Archives' pours of rare Ploughman ciders. For something more structured, there's a Cider & Cheese Class at the Philly Cheese School and a Cider Dinner with Claire Trindle at Carl. Trindle, of Blind Bear Beverages, is Pennsylvania's first and only woman Certified Pommelier, and she features throughout the week's events.
It all wraps up with the 'Cider Stroll,' an all-ages outdoor cider market under the historic Headhouse Shambles on Second Street, between Pine and South. That one brings together live music from Chuck Darwin & The Knuckle Draggers, local snacks, and face painting, with proceeds benefiting The Food Trust. Between the opening party at Pip's and the closing market at the Shambles, the week is built around releases, dinners, pairings, classes, and parties at bars, restaurants, and cideries across the Philadelphia area.
