Black-tie gala with VIP cocktail reception, gallery preview, and dinner celebrating the opening of the Egypt Galleries: Life and Afterlife.
The Penn Museum is hosting its gala on Saturday, November 14, to unveil the newly transformed Egypt Galleries: Life and Afterlife. It's one of the most significant gallery projects in the museum's history, and the night gives guests a rare first look at the splendor of ancient Egypt and Nubia before the galleries open to the general public.
It's a black-tie evening, but there's a twist to the dress code. The museum is encouraging 'Egyptian Black Tie'—formalwear inspired by the opulence of ancient Egypt, with luminous golds, lapis blues, and geometric accessories. If you've been looking for an excuse to lean into the more theatrical side of a tuxedo or gown, this is it.
The night is built around the galleries themselves. It kicks off at 5:30 PM with a VIP cocktail reception and a preview of the new space, followed by a wider cocktail reception at 6:15 PM. Dinner comes at 7:30 PM, and the whole thing wraps by 9:30 PM. The proceeds go to the Penn Museum's Annual Fund.
