Sunday street closure turning Walnut Street into a car-free zone with live music, games, bubble artists, outdoor dining and a Trick-or-Treat Trail on October 25.
Open Streets: West Walnut is back on Walnut Street this Sunday, October 18, from 10 AM to 5 PM. It's part of the Center City District's street-closure program that turns nearly eight city blocks into a car-free extension of public space where you can stroll, shop, and hang out, with outdoor dining and live entertainment along the way. This particular stretch is presented by Fulton Bank and produced with support from Rittenhouse Row and the City of Philadelphia.
The Sundays are built around a kid-friendly zone of games and toys, with strolling bubble artists and live music scattered throughout. The lineup for the day includes Bubble Magic, mini golf in the Fulton Fun Zone, and Philly Girls Jump giving double dutch lessons. There are also Philadelphia Eagles game broadcasts playing, so you can keep up with the game while you're out. On the music side, you'll find a Curtis Institute pop-up with a brass quintet, the Fralinger String Band, the WhoaPhat brass band, and the Philadelphia Freedom Marching Band. The whole route is lined with retail and restaurant happenings, so you can stop in and out of the shops and cafes along the way.
