Spooky Halloween storytime reading 'The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything' with costume-wearing and a scarecrow craft.
Morris Arboretum & Gardens is hosting October Storytime on Wednesday, October 21, at 10:30 AM in the Outdoor Classroom. The morning centers on a reading of The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams, and kids can wear a costume and make a scarecrow craft. It's free with general admission.
The storytime is part of ArBOOretum Month, which runs from October 1 to 31 across the arboretum's 92 acres in Chestnut Hill. The gardens are a public space where plants, people, and place come together in seasonal exhibitions and quiet garden spaces. The month's highlights include the Pumpkin Cottage, a 100-square-foot exhibition covered in hundreds of pumpkins at the end of the Pumpkin Promenadeβa trail lined with pumpkins, gourds, and scarecrows that harks back to when the area was known as 'Pumpkintown'.

Also on display is the 19th Annual Scarecrow Walk, with figures that run from October 1 to November 1. The scarecrows take their inspiration from the 1770s, the 1970s, the 2070s, or any decade ending in '70'. Between the storytime, the promenade, and the walk, there's plenty to see around the grounds throughout the month. The reading is at 10:30 AM on October 21 in the Outdoor Classroom, free with general admission.
