Free walking tour through the River Wards of Philadelphia (Fishtown, Kensington, Port Richmond and Bridesburg), with registration required.
The Neighborhood Jawnts Tour Series is taking on the River Wards from Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25. It's part of a citywide series celebrating the culture, creativity, and small businesses that define Philadelphia's neighborhoods, run in partnership with local organizations and presented by Fulton Bank and the City of Philadelphia. Twenty unique, free experiences are offered weekly from late May through October, each spotlighting a different community, with new tours added every Friday via Philadelphia250 on EventBrite.
This particular tour is an honest portrait of an area where generations of immigrant communities, industrial innovation, and neighborhood traditions intersect with one of Philadelphia's most rapidly evolving urban landscapes. You'll go through Fishtown, Kensington, Port Richmond, and Bridesburg, passing family-owned institutions, boxing legends, independent bookstores, vibrant arts spaces, and revitalized commercial corridors. The walk itself takes around 90 minutes, led by a tour guide and a local tour host in groups of up to 35, with the Neighborhood Jawnts Bus running guests to and from the neighborhood.
