Free outdoor screening of the 1993 film Hocus Pocus as part of the Movies on the Mall series, with pre-show activities from 5:30 p.m.
Movies on the Mall is screening Hocus Pocus at Independence Mall on Friday, October 16. It's part of a free outdoor movie series that celebrates the history of Independence National Historical Park, put on by the Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation and the Independence Historical Trust. The screenings are open to the public, so it's an easy one to bring friends or family along for.
Hocus Pocus is the 1993 Disney classic about three witches who accidentally bring themselves back to life in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night. It's a movie that's become a bit of a seasonal tradition for a lot of people, and seeing it outdoors in the city is a good way to lean into that.
The whole thing is free—admission is free and they're giving out free popcorn, too. The screenings are open to everyone, and they encourage you to arrive at least 45 minutes before dusk for the pre-show activities. Since it's an outdoor movie, you'll want to bring your own blanket, pillow, or chair to settle in for the night. Advance registration is requested, so it's worth getting that sorted before you head down.
