A charity walk to support Muscular Dystrophy research held at Memorial Hall.
The MMRF Team for Cures Walk is coming to Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 17, with the morning's walk dedicated to funding cancer research. The event is organized by the MMRF Team for Cures, the fundraising arm of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, and it brings together people across Philadelphia to walk for the cause.
Memorial Hall is located at 4231 Avenue of the Republic, in the Fairmount Park area, so you'll be walking through one of the city's biggest green spaces. The walk itself is the main feature of the morning, and the funds raised go toward the MMRF's research efforts into multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. It's a community-driven event, meaning it's as much about the people showing up as it is about the walking.
The timing is early, which is a good thing if you're planning to spend the rest of your Saturday doing anything else. It runs from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM, so you'll be wrapped up and back in your day before noon. If you're coming from outside the Fairmount area, keep in mind that the walk starts right at 7:00 AM, so you'll want to give yourself plenty of time to get to the park and get settled.
