Fourth edition of Mister John's Halloween party, a grown-ups' day of live music, a costume contest, drag storytime, arts and crafts and a raffle.
Mister John's Music is hosting its Grown-Ups Night Halloween Party on Friday, October 23, at 8th & Fulton in Fishtown. It's the adults-only side of the school's Halloween celebrations, and it's built around a round-robin jam session—so if you play, you can jump in and play along rather than just watching from the side.
Beyond the jam, there's a nonstop silent disco running throughout the night, and the party includes games, a costume contest, and raffle prizes. It's BYOB, so you can bring whatever you're drinking. The whole thing is grown-ups only, which is a nice change of pace from the usual family-focused Halloween events that take over the city this time of year.
For context, this is part of a larger neighborhood takeover. The music school is teaming up with its neighbors—Butcher Sew Shop, Coco Academy, and Di Bruno Bros.—to bring the whole block together. The school describes it as their favorite holiday returning, and this is the fourth edition of the party. The broader celebration takes over the block at 8th and Fulton in Fishtown with drag storytime, a costume contest, live music, arts and crafts, and more.

If you're looking for a night that's more about playing music and dancing than just standing around in a costume, this is a good bet. The jam session means you can be part of the music instead of just listening to it, and the silent disco keeps things moving. It all goes down Friday, October 23, at 8th & Fulton in Fishtown.
