Family-friendly science day at The Franklin Institute with hands-on activities and live demonstrations about the human body, the brain and genetics.
The Franklin Institute is hosting Mind Your Body Day on Saturday, November 14, from 11 AM to 2 PM. It's a family-friendly science event that lets you explore the human body through hands-on activities and live demonstrations, built for visitors of all ages. The whole day focuses on the brain, the nervous system, genetics, and human biology, with a particular look at how the body works and how it can be modeled.
Two partners bring the bulk of the activities. Johnson & Johnson presents 'Build Your Battle,' 'Battling the Immune System,' and the 'Candy DNA Lab.' The Neuroscience program at Temple University brings an even longer list: 'Modeling the Brain,' 'Frontal Lobe and Cognition,' 'Sleep and Stress,' 'Sensory Illusions,' 'Motor Skills and Movement,' 'Music and Movement,' and 'Reflexes and Stethoscopes.' Between the two, the contributions run from sculpting cells to remote-control cars inspired by the immune system and EEG devices that let you explore sleep and stress.
If you're looking for something to watch, there's the Inside U live science show, which runs twice in the PECO Demonstration Theater—once at 12:30 PM and again at 2 PM.
