Author session in which Jaylene Clark Owens reads her picture book 'A Black Girl and Her Braids' with songs and activities for children.
Jaylene Clark Owens is coming to Wadsworth Library on Wednesday, October 21, at 12:30 PM. It's a meet-the-author session, and she'll be reading her picture book A Black Girl and Her Braids, with songs and activities built around it. The session is best suited for children aged 3 to 8, so it's one to bring the little ones along for.
Owens is an award-winning actor, poet, and author, and that background shows in how she does this. It's not just a readingβthe songs and activities turn the story into something kids can actually participate in rather than just sit and listen to. If you've got a child in that age range, it's the kind of afternoon that works well for them.
There's a nice extra to keep in mind: free copies of the book are given away while supplies last, so if you get there early, you might walk away with a copy to keep at home. Space is limited, though, so it's worth planning ahead rather than just rolling in.

The Wadsworth session is on Wednesday, October 21, at 12:30 PM at Wadsworth Library, 1500 Wadsworth Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150-1699. Admission is free.
