Talk by investigative journalist Linn Washington Jr. at Parkway Central Library, part of the 'Ink & Impact: The Legacy of the Philadelphia Tribune' speaker series.
Linn Washington Jr. will be speaking at the Parkway Central Library on Friday, November 6, at 1:30 PM. He's a Philadelphia journalist and Temple University Professor Emeritus, an award-winning investigative reporter whose work centers on racial inequities in the criminal justice system, the media, and broader issues of social justice.
Washington's career has taken him across the United States and four continents, with roles ranging from reporter to executive editor. He also served as Special Assistant to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. At Temple, he taught journalism, co-founded PhiladelphiaNeighborhoods.com, and led that student news site to more than 50 regional and national honors.
The talk is part of a speaker series accompanying Ink & Impact: The Legacy of the Philadelphia Tribune, an exhibit that opened October 5 in the library's News & Microfilm Department. The exhibit traces the history of the city's historic African American newspaper, and Washington's talk fits right into that conversation about the role of the press in Philadelphia.
