Homework-free Friday session of the LEAP after-school program with board games and video games for school-age children.
LEAP Game Day is at Wadsworth Library on Friday, October 23, starting at 3:30 PM. It's the way the library wraps up the LEAP week, with board games and video games on the table for school-age kids to hang out and play.
If you haven't come across it yet, LEAP stands for the Library Experience and Adventure Program, the Free Library of Philadelphia's after-school offering for school-age children. It's a huge part of what the library does for kids across the city, with more than 28,000 programs for all ages on the calendar each year. Game Day is one of those sessions that runs most Fridays, and it's pitched as a homework-free zone where kids can wind down the LEAP week with board games and video games.
That's the whole point of the afternoon: a place to put the schoolwork aside and just play. Whether it's a board game with a group or a video game on a screen, the focus is on hanging out and having some fun before the weekend kicks in. It's a low-pressure way to spend a Friday afternoon, and since it's part of the larger LEAP program, it's one of many things the library puts on for kids throughout the school year.
