Jordan Hawkins brings his Electric Soul to the Loft for his Philadelphia debut, a solo, stripped-down performance featuring one voice, one electric guitar and a looper.
Jordan Hawkins makes his Philadelphia debut at The Loft at City Winery on Saturday, October 24. He's a guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer whose sound sits at the intersection of R&B, rock, blues and soul, and he's billing the night as 'Electric Soul.'
What makes this one a bit different from a standard gig is how he's doing it: he's stripped the full band away to perform alone. It's one voice, one electric guitar and a looper he uses to build the arrangements in real time, so you'll hear him layer the parts as he goes. He's drawing on Hendrix, D'Angelo and Prince, and the set will pull from his unreleased debut, 4Loss, which moves through heartbreak and growth.
He's not the only one on the bill, either. Special guest Angel Concepcion opens the night, so there are two acts to catch. The room seats 152, and since it's a debut, it's a good chance to see him in a smaller setting before he plays larger rooms.
