Intimate solo evening of voice and piano by Idan Raichel, mixing fan favourites and new interpretations.
Idan Raichel brings his solo show Piano Songs to the City Winery Philadelphia on Monday, October 19. It's a stripped-back night: just his voice and the keys, no band and no backing. The show runs on the Main Stage, and it's a far cry from the larger ensembles he's known for.
If you know Raichel, you probably know him as the Israeli musician and global collaborator behind The Idan Raichel Project, a project that blends styles from across borders. He's spent a lot of his career fronting big groups and sharing stages with symphony orchestras—the Israel Philharmonic, the Israel Sinfonietta, and the Haifa Symphony Orchestra among them. He's also worked with classical crossover artists like Andreas Scholl. Piano Songs does the opposite: it strips everything away until there's only the voice and the piano. The set mixes fan favorites with hidden gems and new interpretations, and the solo format puts the songwriting and the storytelling at the center of the evening.

It's a smaller, more personal way to hear his work than the orchestral settings he often plays. The show is on Monday, October 19, at 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 6:00 PM. You'll find it on the Main Stage at City Winery Philadelphia, 990 Filbert St, Philadelphia, 19107.
