Semiquincentennial programme of Historic Germantown with free walking tours, a 250th Stamp Rally, Firefly Hours, Second Saturdays and several seasonal festivals.
Historic Germantown is running a full slate of events through December 2026, spread across its sites in Northwest Philadelphia. The whole thing is part of Philly 250, the city's celebration of the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, and it keeps going right up to the end of the year.
Germantown is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods, dating back to 1683. It was a pivotal Revolutionary War battleground and a stop on the Underground Railroad, and today it's home to a consortium of historic sites that preserve and interpret that layered past—from the Colonial era to the struggle for human rights. The 2026 program leans into that, with 26 weeks of walking tours, a 250th Stamp Rally, Firefly Hours, and Second Saturdays. There's also a season of festivals, including Juneteenth, the People's Poetry and Jazz Festival, and the Revolutionary Germantown Festival, alongside exhibits, lectures, and social events.

Much of it takes place at the Johnson House Historic Site, at 6306 Germantown Avenue, though other sites across the neighborhood are involved too. The walking tours are the backbone of the schedule, and the majority of them are free, with donations encouraged. Between the tours and the festivals, there's plenty to pick from whether you're looking for a single afternoon or something to come back to throughout the year.
