Family Halloween evening with a guided hike to meet nocturnal creatures, a hayride, the glowing 'Pumpkin Path', nature crafts for children and outdoor Halloween classics.
Halloween Hikes and Hayrides returns to The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's the Center's largest annual fundraiser, and since they're a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the ticket sales go directly toward funding their programs.
The evening is built for families. There's a guided hike to meet nocturnal forest creatures, a hayride on the Center's tractor, and the 'Pumpkin Path,' which turns the Widener Trail into a gallery of glowing jack-o'-lanterns. For the kids, there are nature crafts, and for everyone, Halloween classics play on a big screen outdoors. Every ticket includes a s'mores kit, and the concessions handle the rest: popcorn, hot chocolate, drinks from Yard's Beer Garden, and local food trucks.
If you want to get involved before the event, there's a volunteer day called Fall Fun Makers on October 20. The main event runs both Friday and Saturday nights, so you can pick whichever fits your weekend better.
