Pop-up Halloween bars across Philadelphia turn their spaces into haunted attractions with spooky cocktails, horror screenings and costume parties through late October.
Philadelphia's bars are leaning hard into Halloween this year, with pop-ups running through late October and early November 2026. The city's bars and restaurants are reimagining their spaces as immersive windows into the underworld, serving haunted twists on cocktails, mocktails, and small bites. Some go all out with animatronics and full-room transformations, while others keep it simpler with seasonal drinks, horror-movie screenings, and costume parties. The scene splits between pop-ups that rebuild their rooms every October and venues that stay spooky year-round.
A few of the city's landmarks are getting in on it. McGillin's Olde Ale House, pouring since 1860, is Philadelphia's oldest continually operating tavern, and legend says it has a resident ghost. Eastern State Penitentiary, which once housed infamous criminals like Willie Sutton and Al Capone, turns into one of America's largest haunted attractions each fall. And the docked tall ship Moshulu at Penn's Landing becomes a ghost ship. It's worth noting that the Philadelphia location of The Cauldron closed in 2025, so that one is off the list this year.
