A family-friendly ghost walk with four spooky stories from costumed storytellers along a route from Chestnut Hill Library to Hilltop Books, suitable for ages 6 and up.
Ghost Walk Stories returns to Chestnut Hill Library on Saturday, October 17, for its second year. It's a fundraiser put on by the Friends of the Chestnut Hill Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all the ticket sales go back into supporting the branch. They describe it as one of their favorite events of the year.
It's built for families and readers rather than thrill-seekers. The walk is suitable for ages 6 and up, and costumes are encouraged. The route is short: you start at the library and wind your way to Hilltop Books, the library's own bookstore. Along the way, four costumed storytellers each take five to ten minutes at a spooky stop to tell a story. The whole experience runs about an hour and ends with refreshments. Last year's walk sold out, so they added a fifth tour by popular demand.
The evening also includes a raffle basket valued at around $450, filled with gift cards to local businesses, allium bulbs from Laurel Hill Gardens, Halloween gear, and Zipf's Candies.
