Free GED preparation class held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Tacony Library.
Tacony Library is hosting a GED preparation class through the Community College of Philadelphia, and it's open to adults and seniors. If you've been thinking about getting your high school equivalency, this is a way to work toward it right in the neighborhood rather than having to commute across the city.
The class runs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1:10 to 3:40 PM, and it's a long-term commitment rather than a one-off workshop. It kicked off on August 4 and runs through November 18, 2026, so there's plenty of room to settle in and work through the material at your own pace. Just a heads-up on the schedule: there are no sessions on November 3 or November 11, so you can plan your breaks around those.
Because it's offered by CCP, you're getting college-level prep in a library setting. It's designed for adults and seniors, which means you'll be in a room with people in a similar boat—adults returning to school or seniors picking up where they left off—rather than in a traditional classroom. That usually makes for a more relaxed atmosphere, and it's easier to ask questions when you know everyone else is there for the same reason.
