Weekly Tuesday chess club at the Heim Center in Parkway Central Library, with 20 sets and clocks available for play.
The Free Library Chess Club is meeting at the Parkway Central Library on Tuesday, October 20, from 4 PM to 7 PM. It's a drop-in session, so you can swing by for a quick game after work or settle in for the whole afternoon. If you've been wanting to pick up the game, this is a good place to start: you can play or learn chess in the Heim Center, and they have 20 sets and clocks available for use, so you don't need to bring your own board.
That's the thing that makes it easy to just show up. You don't have to worry about owning a set or finding a partner; the equipment is there, and there are other players around. Whether you're looking for a serious match or just want to learn how the pieces move, you'll find people at both ends of the experience level. It's a low-stakes way to spend a Tuesday afternoon in the city.

If you can't make it this week, the club runs every Tuesday from 4 PM to 7 PM, with the next sessions on October 27, November 3, November 10, and November 17. You can drop in whenever you have the time.
