Free two-hour in-person financial planning seminar led by CFP Larry Farmbry on budgeting, investing, wills, estate planning, Medicare and retirement.
Larry Farmbry leads a two-hour financial planning seminar at Logan Library on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's a free session aimed at adults and seniors, and it's designed to be an in-person workshop rather than a lecture. Farmbry is a Certified Financial Planner with more than 40 years of experience, and he's spent that time working through the same ground he'll cover here.
The program focuses on the ins and outs of financial planning, with a particular eye on preparing for and navigating retirement. Over the course of the two hours, he'll walk through budgeting, investing, wills and estate planning, Medicare, and savings plans. It's a broad sweep of the basics that usually come up when you're looking at the long termβthe kind of things that can feel overwhelming to tackle on your own but make a lot more sense when someone lays them out in order.
Logan Library is a Carnegie building at the corner of Wagner Avenue and Old York Road, built in 1917-1918 with funds donated by Andrew Carnegie, who committed $1.5 million in 1903 to Free Library of Philadelphia branches. Community interest in a Logan neighborhood branch goes back to 1908, and the Logan Improvement League campaigned for a decade to make it happen; in 1915, Mrs. Philip Garrett offered part of the Garrett Estate for a public library. The branch also serves as a Neighborhood City Hall.
