Workshop by the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union in which a financial professional answers questions about money management for young adults.
Philadelphia Federal Credit Union is hosting a financial literacy workshop for teens at Wynnefield Library on Saturday, October 24, starting at 12 PM. It's part of the Free Library of Philadelphia's Community Impact Week, so it's one of several programs running across the system that week. A financial professional will be there to answer questions about money management, specifically for young adults who are starting to think about some of the bigger financial decisions they'll face in the coming years.
The session is built around the questions that actually come up when you're first handling your own money. It covers the basics that can feel confusing when you're just starting outโthe difference between a checking and savings account, or between a debit and credit cardโand moves into the larger things, like how to plan for college or save for a car. If you've got a teen in your life who's starting to work or just wants to understand how this stuff works before they're in the thick of it, this is a good place to get those questions answered.
The venue is the Wynnefield Branch, located at 5325 Overbrook Avenue (54th St. & Overbrook Ave.) in Philadelphia, PA 19131. It serves the Wynnefield and Overbrook Farms communities and sits right next to the John C. Anderson Cultural Center, not far from St. Joseph's University. The neighborhood takes its name from Dr. Thomas Wynne, a Welsh physician to William Penn and Speaker of the first two provincial assemblies of Pennsylvania, who built his home, Wynnestay, in 1690โit still stands at 52nd and Woodbine. The branch itself opened in June 1964 after a long campaign by the Wynnefield Residents Association and re-opened in September 2000 following extensive technological upgrades.
