Participatory workshop with AHCOPA on wills, trusts, powers of attorney and protecting family and property.
Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania (AHCOPA) is hosting an estate planning workshop at the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library on Monday, October 19, starting at 5:30 PM. It's a session built around the basics of wills, trusts, and protecting your family and property, and it's aimed at adults and seniors.
The core of the talk is the difference between a will and a trust—two things people often use interchangeably, but that work very differently when it comes to how your assets are handled. AHCOPA will walk through how each one functions, so you can figure out which makes more sense for your situation. From there, the conversation moves into how to avoid the kind of legal headaches that crop up when things aren't clearly laid out, like tangled titles that can complicate a home's transfer.
It's not just for people starting from scratch, either. If you've already got some of this in place but have questions about a Power of Attorney, there's room for that here. The whole thing is set up as a discussion and participation format rather than a lecture, so you can ask questions as they come up instead of waiting until the end. If you've been putting off these conversations because they feel overwhelming or too technical, this is a low-pressure way to get some clarity.
