Free intermediate and advanced English conversation group led by a Free Library volunteer, with no registration required.
The English Conversation Group meets at Bushrod Library on Tuesday, November 3, at 5:45 PM. It's a casual gathering for adults who speak English at an intermediate or advanced level and want to get more comfortable using it in conversation. The whole thing is part of the Free Library of Philadelphia's adult learning and English Language Learners programs, which put on more than 28,000 programs for all ages across the city every year.
If you're already at an intermediate level, the goal here is just to build confidence. It's a low-pressure environment where you can practice speaking and listen to others, and since it's a group, you'll meet other learners along the way. Each session is led by a Free Library volunteer, so there's someone there to keep things moving and help out if you get stuck on a word or a phrase. It's less like a formal class and more like a conversation with people who are in the same boat.

One of the best parts is that there's no registration requiredโyou just show up. If you've been looking for a way to get more speaking practice without the stress of a classroom, this is a good place to start. The library is at 1901 Vine Street, between 19th and 20th Streets on the Parkway, and it's free to attend. It runs on Tuesday, November 3, starting at 5:45 PM.
