Casual English conversation group for intermediate to advanced speakers, led by a Free Library volunteer, with no registration required.
The English Conversation Group - Intermediate+ meets at the Thomas F. Donatucci, Sr. Library on Monday, October 19, starting at 5:45 PM. It's a conversation group for adults who already have a handle on the basics and are looking to sharpen their speaking skills in a low-pressure setting.
That "low-pressure" part is the whole point. The group is designed to help adults build confidence in speaking English while meeting other adults in a casual learning environment. It's not a formal class with a syllabus or a grade; it's about getting comfortable talking and listening in a room full of people who are in the same boat. If you've reached a point where you can hold your own but still get a bit stuck when the conversation moves fast, this is exactly the kind of space where you can work through that.
It's led by Sonya, a Free Library volunteer, so there's a friendly face there to keep things moving and help out when you're searching for a word. The group is aimed at intermediate to advanced English speakers, so you'll be chatting with people who are roughly at your level rather than starting from scratch. And because it's a conversation group, the focus is on the talkingโthe kind of practice that's hard to find on your own.
