Free outdoor celebration of Puerto Rican and Latino culture in North Philadelphia with live music, vendors, traditional food and family activities.
El Festival del Jíbaro is taking place at Norris Square Park on Saturday, October 24, 2026. This event serves as a community celebration of the Puerto Rican and Latino cultural legacy of North Philadelphia. It is presented by Xiente, a nonprofit organization that works to empower people to achieve economic mobility. The organizers frame the festival as a day rooted in culture, tradition, and pride, specifically focusing on where people come from, the traditions they carry, and the neighborhood story that continues to be written in the area. It is intended to honor the cultural legacy that has shaped the Norris Square neighborhood for generations while making room for the next one.
The festival schedule runs from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM and features a full program of live entertainment, local artisans, and vendors. The festival grounds will be filled with local artisans and vendors, providing a space to explore traditional flavors and cultural experiences. Beyond the music, the event emphasizes history and storytelling, which are central to the day's purpose of celebrating the neighborhood's identity. Families can participate in various activities throughout the afternoon, ensuring there is plenty to do while the live music is playing.
The musical lineup is anchored by Julio César Sanabria 'El Gran Trovador', who will be joined by special guest Julisa Sanabria. The stage will also host Jimmy Jorge & The Latin Express, who are set to perform salsa, and Vendaval, who will bring bomba and plena to the park. María del Pilar is serving as the festival MC, and DJ Loso is the official festival DJ for the day.
