Hands-on cooking session with Chef Claire Richardson, who prepares a vegan chickpea curry, hummus and naan using ingredients from Cousin's Market.
Chef Claire Richardson leads a cooking class at Parkway Central Library on Tuesday, December 1, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The session is part of the Culinary Literacy Center's monthly program, which each month focuses on a different Philadelphia food source — a market, garden, cooperative, or other producer — and brings it into the classroom. This time, the spotlight is on Cousin's Market.
Throughout the evening, the group works with ingredients from Cousin's Market to make a vegan chickpea curry, hummus, and naan. It's a full meal's worth of cooking in one sitting, and you'll be doing it alongside other adults. The series pairs local food sourcing with hands-on cooking and nutrition instruction, and it runs across the Free Library of Philadelphia's branches, with local food writers and educators leading the way. The focus here is as much on where the food comes from as it is on how to prepare it.
