Volunteer Lily teaches people how to crochet or helps children and teens practice their skills, with all supplies provided, in the library's public area.
The Crochet Club meets at the Parkway Central Library on Monday, October 19, at 4 PM, in the Children's Department. It's run by a volunteer named Lily, who spends the session teaching people how to crochet or helping children and teens practice their skills in the public area of the library. All the supplies are provided, so you don't need to bring your own hook or yarn to get started.
If you've never picked up a crochet hook, this is a low-pressure way to learn. Lily walks you through the basics, and since it's a group setting, you'll be working alongside other children and teens. If you already know your way around a few stitches, it's just as much about practicing and working on your own project while you're there. The whole thing takes place in the public area of the library, so it's a casual, open atmosphere rather than a formal class.

The club is part of the Free Library of Philadelphia's LEAP (Library Engagement and Active Participation) programs, which is a city-wide offering of more than 28,000 sessions for all ages each year. It's one of many things the library does to get people into the branches and working on something together. The session is on Monday, October 19, starting at 4 PM in the Children's Department at the Parkway Central Library.
