Cross-genre open mic and showcase night hosted by Mike Weatherbe, with singer-songwriter Caitlyn Deviney as the closing act.
Creatives' Pier returns to the Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center on Tuesday, October 20, with singer-songwriter Caitlyn Deviney taking the closing spot. It's an open mic night run by Creatives' Philly, and the whole thing is built around the city's creative community. The night is cross-genre by design, and it doubles as a networking event, so you'll find artists from across Philadelphia in the room.
The format is straightforward: Mike Weatherbe hosts the open mic, with DJ Ant G and the Creatives' House Band on hand. Over the course of about 90 minutes, more than a dozen artists take the stage, and the evening wraps with Caitlyn Deviney's performance. If you're coming to play, there are sign-up buckets at the doorβjust drop your name in for a chance to perform alongside the booked acts. The room is aimed at aspiring performers, spoken-word artists, and budding comedians, and the sign-up buckets stay open until 7:15 PM.
Once the music winds down, the night carries on with light refreshments and in-house vendors. It's the kind of evening that works as well for someone who just wants to listen as it does for someone looking to get their own work in front of a crowd.
