Free cooking and baking workshop for school-aged children and teens, led by Keisha Prosser of Mobile Cooking Teachers, to prepare a two-course meal.
Keisha Prosser is leading a cooking workshop for kids and teens at the Wyoming Library on Monday, October 26, starting at 3:30 PM. It's part of a series she runs through Mobile Cooking Teachers, and the whole thing is built around making a two-course meal from scratch. If you've got school-aged kids or young adults at home who've been asking to help out in the kitchen, this is exactly the kind of thing to point them toward.
The format is all about teamwork. Instead of everyone working on their own little station, the participants work in groups, baking and cooking together. Once the meal is finished, they sit down and eat what they've made. It's a hands-on way to pick up actual cooking and baking techniques, and the social side—working together and then sharing the meal—is a big part of the appeal. It's less about following a recipe in isolation and more about the process of putting a full meal together with other people.
Prosser runs the sessions through Mobile Cooking Teachers, and the program is aimed at school-aged children and young adults. Some of the sessions are open to ages seven and up, so it can work for younger kids as well as teens. Space is limited, and because of that, groups can't be accommodated—it's meant for individuals coming in and joining a group on the day.
