Community resource fair where the City of Philadelphia's Office of Human Resources connects residents with city career and civil service opportunities.
West Oak Lane Charter School is hosting a Community Resource Fair this Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 2 PM. It's part of a month-long push by the City of Philadelphia's Office of Human Resources (OHR), which is running hiring events across the city throughout October. If you're looking for work or just want to see what's out there, this is one of those days when the city brings the resources to your neighborhood instead of making you track them down.
At the fair, you can meet OHR staff in person to learn about City careers and look through current civil service opportunities. It's a good spot to ask questions about how the hiring process actually works and get some help with the application itself. The OHR does this at career fairs, community events, colleges, libraries, and neighborhood locations across Philadelphia and the surrounding region, so they're used to talking with people from all over the city.
This fair isn't the only thing the OHR has going on this month. They're also holding HR Office Hours at Neighborhood Action Centers and Free Library locations, and they've got the Hiring Bus on the roadβa mobile recruitment center equipped with computers and staffed by HR professionals. Between the office hours and the bus, there are a few different ways to get in front of them if you can't make it to this specific fair.
