A drag and burlesque tribute to the mystery game Clue, with the cast playing the game's suspects in character at Franky Bradley's.
Dark Side Burlesque brings the board game and movie Clue to the stage on Sunday, October 18, at Franky Bradley's. They're calling the show Burlesque Was A Red Herring, a drag and burlesque tribute that puts "the bawdy in Mr. Boddy," with the cast playing the game's suspects in character. The poster for the night is by Violet Volatile.
The lineup puts a familiar face on every suspect: Bev as Mrs. Peacock, Blue Jean as Yvette, Hannibal Lickher as Wadsworth, Jaeda as the Singing Telegram Girl, Mistress Minaka as Mrs. White, Paul Severe as Colonel Mustard, Sara Without An H as Miss Scarlet, and Skeet Davidson as Mr. Green. Dizzy Marquee hosts, with Maya Precious as stage kitten and DJ Dr. Fluffy on the decks.
The venue is a Philadelphia institution in the Gayborhood. Franky Bradley, born Frank Block in South Philly in 1895, opened the original bar on September 15, 1933, just under two months before Prohibition ended. He took the name after a pro boxing match, earned $6,000 over a 65-fight career, and ran the family business for more than 50 years, welcoming celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Dick Clark, Lauren Bacall, Lucille Ball, and Tony Randall. Half the building burnt down in 1960, he later added the next-door property, and he died in January 1976. Today, it's a multifaceted restaurant and nightlife destination known for drag and burlesque.
