Hands-on cooking and nutrition class led by registered dietitians, with a chickpea and tomato curry recipe demonstration.
The Culinary Literacy Center is hosting a Budget-Friendly Nutrition Class at Parkway Central Library on Wednesday, November 18, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The session is led by Registered Dietitians Claire and Katharine, and the focus is on making nutritious meals that don't break the bank. The recipe they'll be demonstrating is a chickpea and tomato curry.
It's not just a cooking demo, though. The class covers the basics that usually get glossed over: knife skills, how to actually read a recipe, and how to make sense of food labels. They also go over how to make recipe modifications on the fly, which is the part that really helps when you're working with what you've got in the pantry rather than a perfect shopping list. You'll work in pairs to make the dish, and you get to take home your own portion.
