Preschool bubble party led by Miss Chelsea with a big bubble maker, music, crafts and toys at the Ramonita G. de Rodriguez Library.
Ramonita G. de Rodriguez Library is hosting a Bubble Party on Tuesday, October 20, at 11 AM. It's part of the library's Family Programs, and this one is aimed at the preschool crowd. Miss Chelsea is leading the session, and she's bringing a big bubble maker to get things going, along with music, crafts, and toys to keep the little ones occupied. If your kids have their own bubbles and wands at home, they're welcome to bring them along and add to the mix.
The library itself is on Girard Avenue in Northern Liberties, and it's got a bit of a story. It opened as the Girard Avenue Branch on December 16, 1968, and was renamed in 1977 to honor Ramonita G. de Rodriguez, a Puerto Rican educator and community leader who served as a supervisor in the School District of Philadelphia's Bilingual Program. The neighborhood around it dates back to the 1860s, and Girard Avenue was laid out by Stephen Girard in 1830. The branch was renovated in 1996 as part of the library's 'Changing Lives' campaign, and its exterior features a Mural Arts Program mural and an abstract relief sculpture by Joseph J. Greenberg, Jr.

One thing to keep in mind before you head over: the venue can't accommodate groups like classes, daycares, or preschools, so this is for families coming in on their own. The Bubble Party runs at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 20, at the Ramonita G. de Rodriguez Library, 600 West Girard Avenue (6th St. & Girard Ave.), Philadelphia, PA 19123-1311.
